At HMD, we’re proud to be walking in the annual Walk for Hope, supporting the Foundation of Hope. Their mission is to conquer mental illness through groundbreaking scientific research and mental health initiatives—working closely with UNC Chapel Hill’s Department of Psychiatry to better understand root causes, develop treatments, and raise awareness.

Since 1984, Foundation of Hope has awarded over 210 scientific research grants totaling $10.7 million, which have leveraged an additional $272 million from NIH and other agencies. They’ve also supported 47 mental health initiatives in our community with nearly $700,000 in funding directed toward programs that serve individuals and families.

We believe mental health is something that impacts everyone—our team, our families, and the entire community. That’s why we’re walking, because awareness + action = change.

We invite you to join us! Walk with the HMD team, lend your support, or help spread the word. Every step matters.

Visit walkforhope.com to register or learn more.

Let’s walk together toward hope, healing, and mental wellness.

Looking forward to bringing another great local spot to life!

Labor Day is a reminder that dedication builds dreams. Enjoy the holiday with rest and relaxation!

At HMD, we value opportunities to connect with our community outside of the jobsite. Kenneth and Mike, along with their wives, had a wonderful evening at Taylor’s Wine Shop for a special tasting with Cam Ward, co-owner of Vineyard 36.

Vineyard 36 is a Napa Valley wine label founded by former Carolina Hurricanes teammates Cam Ward and Tim Gleason, along with their friend Jason Earnest.

We’re grateful to be part of a community that celebrates local businesses, teamwork, and shared experiences, both in and outside of the construction world.

Last week, we wrapped up our summer internship program at HMD Construction & Development.

We were fortunate to have Cat and Landon join our team this summer, gaining hands-on experience and learning more about the construction industry. At HMD, we believe in more than just the classroom side of education, we are committed to providing hands-on opportunities that allow the next generation to grow, learn, and truly experience what our industry is all about.

This was Landon’s second summer with us, and we’ve loved watching his growth and continued passion for the industry. Together, he and Cat contributed to projects, built new skills, and brought fresh energy and perspective to both the office and the field. We’re proud of all they accomplished and excited to see what the future holds for them.

This fall, Cat will be returning to East Carolina University and Landon will be heading back to NC State University. We wish them both the very best in this next chapter, we know they’ll continue to do great things!

We are delighted to announce the completion of our most recent ground-up construction project: The Skyroom Wedding Venue in Moncure, NC.

Nestled on 10 scenic acres and offering just under 8,000 square feet of thoughtfully designed event space, The Skyroom combines modern elegance with Southern charm—featuring expansive glass walls, luxurious finishing touches, and a setting perfectly suited for unforgettable celebrations.

At HMD Construction & Development, we took great pride in guiding this project from vision to reality—constructing a venue that not only meets the highest standards of craftsmanship, but also adapts seamlessly to weddings, corporate gatherings, and special milestones. From the serene surroundings of rural Chatham County to the venue’s refined aesthetic, every element is intended to elevate the guest experience.

We invite you to visit The Skyroom’s social media—Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest—to see the space in action and marvel at how beautifully it transforms for each event. Whether adorned for a romantic ceremony, a sophisticated evening soiree, or a lively gathering, the Skyroom’s versatility and design truly shine when it’s fully dressed for the occasion.

August 1st is World Lung Cancer Day, and at HMD Development, we’re committed to building more than just structures – we’re building a culture of safety.

Construction workers face a higher risk of lung-related illnesses due to exposure to dust, asbestos, and silica. That’s why we take respiratory protection seriously, through proper PPE, air quality control, and jobsite safety protocols.

Today, we stand in support of those affected by lung cancer and reaffirm our commitment to protecting our team’s health, on and off the jobsite.

HMD is pleased to announce the successful completion of Cardinal Dermatology, located at 150 Wellesley Trade Lane, Suite 204 in Cary, North Carolina.

This medical office reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, detail-oriented construction tailored to the needs of healthcare providers. It has been a privilege to work alongside the Cardinal Dermatology team to bring their vision to life in a space that supports both patient care and operational efficiency.

We extend our sincere thanks to all project partners and team members who contributed to the success of this build. At HMD, we remain proud to serve as a trusted, relationship-driven commercial contractor in the Triangle region.
