At HMD, we’re proud to be walking in the annual Walk for Hope, supporting the Foundation of Hope. Their mission is to conquer mental illness through groundbreaking scientific research and mental health initiatives—working closely with UNC Chapel Hill’s Department of Psychiatry to better understand root causes, develop treatments, and raise awareness.

Since 1984, Foundation of Hope has awarded over 210 scientific research grants totaling $10.7 million, which have leveraged an additional $272 million from NIH and other agencies. They’ve also supported 47 mental health initiatives in our community with nearly $700,000 in funding directed toward programs that serve individuals and families.

We believe mental health is something that impacts everyone—our team, our families, and the entire community. That’s why we’re walking, because awareness + action = change.

We’re excited to kick off a new project: Timber Pizza located in Durham! This ~2,000 sq ft space marks their second location in North Carolina, and we’re honored that HMD has had the privilege of building both spaces for this amazing team. Looking forward to bringing another great local spot to life!

At HMD, we value opportunities to connect with our community outside of the jobsite. Kenneth and Mike, along with their wives, had a wonderful evening at Taylor’s Wine Shop for a special tasting with Cam Ward, co-owner of Vineyard 36.

Vineyard 36 is a Napa Valley wine label founded by former Carolina Hurricanes teammates Cam Ward and Tim Gleason, along with their friend Jason Earnest.

We are delighted to announce the completion of our most recent ground-up construction project: The Skyroom Wedding Venue in Moncure, NC.

Nestled on 10 scenic acres and offering just under 8,000 square feet of thoughtfully designed event space, The Skyroom combines modern elegance with Southern charm—featuring expansive glass walls, luxurious finishing touches, and a setting perfectly suited for unforgettable celebrations.

At HMD Construction & Development, we took great pride in guiding this project from vision to reality—constructing a venue that not only meets the highest standards of craftsmanship, but also adapts seamlessly to weddings, corporate gatherings, and special milestones. From the serene surroundings of rural Chatham County to the venue’s refined aesthetic, every element is intended to elevate the guest experience.

Construction workers face a higher risk of lung-related illnesses due to exposure to dust, asbestos, and silica. That’s why we take respiratory protection seriously, through proper PPE, air quality control, and jobsite safety protocols.

Today, we stand in support of those affected by lung cancer and reaffirm our commitment to protecting our team’s health, on and off the jobsite.
